Well there is nothing you need to say about the faculties when the minimum qualification they need to be here is to have a doctorate or at least pursuing their PhDs’. So apart from their PhDs’ they are all very experienced both from the industry and in teaching too. Some subjects are taken by visiting faculties, who are also very experience industry professionals. Overall students just have issues in understanding 1 or 2 professors, but otherwise its good learning. Faculties are always helpful and have no ego issues on a personal level with the students. Yet the students feel practical exposure to concepts taught in class is low, because most of their time is spent assignments and blame the GTU pattern for the same.

As mentioned already, the 25 acre sprawling campus is beautifully planned and designed, with two main blocks, one Academic, and other the residential block. The buildings have a unique grey-stone styling, and also follow symmetry as far as its plan (aerial view) is considered. The road taking you around the campus is neat and cleaner than even an airstrip. The campus feels almost disconnected from the perpetual hustle-bustle of the city, and the green overview of the campus from the 2 storey buildings is serene and relaxing. The classrooms are spacious and comfortable. The seminar hall is air-conditioned, and is designed like a theatre, with good projection and multimedia systems. A password protected Wi-Fi network is accessible to students only in the college premises. The library is resourceful, all the books that students need are available and apart from academic volumes, there are more reads in various categories linked to Management. The library is open till 6 PM, but during exams, doubles up as reading room and is open till 11 PM.
The college runs with the support of Gujarat Co-operative Bank, and the college is affiliated to GTU for its various courses.

About the summer internships; most students want to manage it themselves at places or organization they might have contacts at. Yet for those who can’t, the college helps them get an internship. Those who are really sincere work hard during the internships, while the others ‘manage’ the internship themselves. Pre-placement offers are rare but it’s in the best interest of the students to be sincere about the internship.
Now about the real deal; the final placements, frankly its not very satisfactory considering the ratio of people who still do not get a job on-campus (well there are other factors also to be considered like the communication skills, and the talent set of the student) but students say that the college and the TPO works hard to get more companies to college. About 55% students get job on campus, and most of them are from the Marketing field. Others it’s a little less. To name a few major names coming to the campus there’s TCS, HDFC, ITC, Collabera Fin. Services, SNL Financial Services coming in. According to a group, about 50 companies visited the campus last season, and offered an average of 3.2 Lakh Rupees per annum. The highest offered was TCS at Rs.5.2 Lakh per year.

Located adjacent to the most famous place of Gandhinagar, Infocity IT hub is SJPI more commonly referred to as NICM. Although technically outside the cities of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, it promises excellent connectivity to both by road transport. About 500 meters off the Indroda Circle on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway is a sprawling 25 acre green campus of NICM. Located in vicinity are the very famous institutes, DA-IICT, and the National Institute of Design. Most of the students prefer travelling by the own vehicles to college, while those who live on-campus in college hostel don’t have to worry about the daily commute anyway. But Infocity is a prime location, and access to things; food, mobile recharges; and commute are pretty easy.

The hostel blocks for girls and guys are obviously separate, but both are absolutely same when it comes to the facilities. Rooms are twin sharing, with minimal furniture wiz a study table, a wardrobe, and the beds of course. The students maintain their rooms neat most of the times, but the corridors & washrooms are kept clean by the responsible staff. For the recreation of students, there are indoor games, a TV Room, carom, and a few more sports activities too. Chilling with friends on the lawns in the evening can also be pleasantly relaxing. The hostels are extremely safe and one doesn’t ever have to worry about that. The charges for the hostel is affordable.

For those who stay at the hostel, and the canteen is the mess. So apart from meals the canteen also serves decent snacks and cold drinks. Sundays are special at the mess, as the students are in for a feast every week; the food is good and tasty.

Well there is the most obvious Infocity right around the corner, where you find most big food brands having an outlet. Apart from Infocity, getting places in Sectors of Gandhinagar is not the any difficult. There’s Cinemax theatre in Ch-3 Sector 11, there is ‘chowpatty’ the road side eateries at the Gh-5 Circle and on the road that leads into the circle. Akshardham Temple in Sector 20 is a popular hangout destination to spend time with friends. For the more outgoing souls, Ahmedabad is not too far either, so a 20Km ride, and you can find a myriad of options to explore.

The crowd comprises of more students from the Saurashtra region of the state. About 40% of the entire batch stays at the college hostel. Locals and outsiders mix well and there is no discrimination of any kind between students. The ratio of boys to girls is about 7:3 and the interaction between them is good, as doing assignments, presentations and Group Discussions get them together well. There are students from different under-grad backgrounds like BBA B.com to Engineering, and some even have work experience, yet mixing and gelling along is not difficult. Assignments are given every week, but doing it regularly does not let life become stressful, and there’s enough recreation here so that takes care of it.

70% attendance is a must else warnings are issued. To compensate for low attendance you might have to write extra assignments.

NICM as it was formerly known is run with the help of Gujarat Co-operative Bank, and has a good reputation that it has built over the years. The infrastructure is good, the hostels are nice. The hostels are safe, but along with that come some limitations that not many are pleased with, so may be that could be a bit relaxed. Faculties are well qualified and teaching is undoubtedly first-class. The placements can certainly improve over the current position, with more students getting placed and more companies coming in to recruit, ad with a hard working TPO things only look like they would improve.

Surprisingly, unlike other MBA colleges around in Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar, NICM doesn’t fail to justify its legacy. Every year students are taken for 3 Industrial visits, usually not beyond Gujarat and are mostly 1-3 day trips. Students feel the IV’s are a good learning medium where they get the much required practical exposure.
Seminars and workshops are regular events at NICM and industry professionals are invited to speak. Students take the seminars and workshops pretty sincerely.
