The management faculty at Jamia Millia Islamia University is pretty experienced. Students find their teachers quite up to the mark, though some are new and have only few years of experience. The faculty isn’t co-operative when it comes to festivals and all extra curricular activities. Thus, students find them a bit arrogant. Overall, the lecturers for law, principal of communication and Urdu are excellent.

The management department shares it building with the law students. Thus, the first two floors of the five storey building are dedicated to the management students. The non air conditioned classrooms are well ventilated with comfortable benches. Fans are in working condition and students seem to be satisfied with the same. The wifi enabled department has a departmental library apart from the central university library. Students quote that their library is Asia’s biggest library and has books of all the possible courses within management.

Jamia Millia Islamia University is located in Jamia Nagar (yes, as the name suggests) in South Delhi and is pretty famous and well known to the localities. Hundreds of blue sign boards on the main road indicate Jamia Millia all the time, thus finding the university is NEVER a problem. The university is easily accessible by DTC buses which have an amazing frequency. The nearest Metro stations are Kalkaji Mandir and Nehru Place on the violet line though they’re roughly at a distance of 5 kilometres from the college. Thanks to the auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws which makes travelling less cumbersome, though one has to spend a good lofty amount to reach the college. The managment building is situated far inside the campus and is roughly 10 minutes walking from the main gate.

There are multiple canteens and food joints in the campus and students find the Youth Café and Maggie Point the best. The common canteen is cheap in terms of food quality and cost and shouldn’t be preferred apart from tea and coffee. The main canteen serves good Chole Bhature and Biryani though they’re inconsistent sometimes. Space in the canteen is never a problem as most of them prefer the green grass, the lawns and gardens, as the best place to enjoy their food.

Well, since the college is located in South Delhi which is considered to be one of the posh areas of the city, you’ve innumerable hangouts. Community Centre (CC) in New Friends Colony, adorably referred as NFC, is the standard and the most visited place by any student. There are hundreds of food joints from CCD to Barista, Dominos to Pizza Hut, Subway, roadside stalls, chole kulche, and every possible thing you want. In short, when you’re at Jamia, enjoyment ain’t a problem, definitely we mean outside the campus.
Just outside the Psychology department, there is a beautiful place to sit which is named as Badnaam Chowk. It’s called so because boys generally hangout there and check out the beautiful girls of the Psychology course which is supposed to have the best crowd.

Jamia has a Muslim Religion Minority Quota, thus 50% of the seats are reserved for Muslims. Most of the students are from Delhi and some from NCR as well. There is a Kashmiri Quota as well in the college, thus you’re bound to see a lot of pretty faces from Himachal and Kashmir. Foreign students from Afghanistan are seen in every batch of the management college. Overall, the crowd is quite friendly and gels with each other very well. Stuff like ragging isn’t seen on the campus and the crowd is pretty enthusiastic for college festival celebrations.

Eid, the religious festival of Islam, is celebrated on a grand scale in the university. Iftaar and Freshers Party are also conducted during the second semester season. Youth Festival is celebrated on the Founder’s Day.
The management festival is held in January and doesn’t have a standard name. It changes every year. Sadly, music and dance is not allowed during the festival as Islam doesn’t permit that. Students hate this thing about the management and often complain to broaden their views and thinking.

Just like other departments, attendance for the management is also strict or rather very strict. Students have to maintain 75% compulsorily. Some say shortage of a single percent can get you a year back and the college firmly believes in that. So, bunking is next to impossible here.

The Faculty of Management at Jamia Millia Islamia University has an annual pattern which is a plus point as one has to give the exam once in a year. There is an amazing scope of improvement and the college can join the big league of management colleges provided they broaden their views on several topics especially cultural festival. One should be prepared to gel with different cultures and various backgrounds in this college.
