The general consensus at the DY Patil College of Engineering (DYPCE) is that the faculty isn’t too great- many former-students take up jobs as teachers, and are slightly low on their communication skills.

The college is still pretty much under construction. It has a HUGE campus; about 40 acres which is shared by 10 other colleges. The classrooms are clean, and well maintained. The college offers comprehensive hostel facility located within a vicinity of one kilometer from the college campus. Separate boys (100 seats) and girls (250 seats) hostels are available.

The college ‘boasts’ of 90% placements, with your regular IT companies (Wipro, TCS, L&T) picking up truckloads of students.

DY Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi is a five minute walk from the Akurdi railway station, and is pretty accessible by buses as well. Students from Pune city prefer the railway while students coming from nearby areas prefer the buses. The frequency of buses is excellent as well.

It is in a kind of jungle. But it is far far away from civilized area(viman nagar about 14 kms) if you want to take a Xerox of a sheet or something like pen, toothbrush, etc you need to travel to vishranthvadi (about 5kms). if You have your private vehicle then it's okay other wise rickshaws are hard to find from college. and if you catch one it will definitely charge you double price. You will be really frustrated. Other option is to take a six seater after a walk of 3 kms

Hostel: prices are 75k for non ac and 1 lac for ac. 4 people in 1 room. Don't expect too much in an hostel. As said by many of my friends in hostel "a jail would be much more better than hostel". I mean that you have to take a slip signed by Sir every time you want to go out of the college and that too by informing your parents. Grrrr. Otherwise you can always take a room/flat for rent by sharing it with your friends. and one mare thing water here is hard(salty) for drinking and all purposes.

Not a very spacious canteen, but it makes up for that by being pretty affordable. Schezwan rice is supposed to be a speciality.

The crowd is comprised of a healthy mix of ‘localites’ as well as ‘outsiders’. Co-operative and fun to live with.

75% attendance is compulsory. If you do not maintain this, you will eand up in the defaulter list and you will be in trouble.Students have to wear a uniform. If you come to this college you will feel like you are back in school.

Ask any student of one USP of this college, answer would be its infrastructure. I completed BE in Mech Engineering from here and I wouldn't hesitate to mention that this college workshop had turned out to be my 2nd home. The faculty were very cooperative but relatively inexperienced (well it could be uanderstood becoz the college is a newbie). They encouraged participation in various competitions. But the worst thing, Admin department, with its poor co-ordination between collegeeagues, there were frequent clashes related to fees, exam forms, scholarships etc. Rules- Woander why the name "School”??Yes you would rather experience "back to school" with a protocol dictated to you on the first day. I think it’s the first ragging free campus in Pune. Education quality is mediocre. Placements- to be frank, the first batch did not have any formal placement drive but most of them are now into some job or the other. Bottom line, If you are thinking of joining this college, get ready to enjoy school again.
