"The lecturers in the first year are disappointing and you may start thinking that you've made a big blunder joining this college" says a group of third-year students. "But 2nd year onwards we have brilliant teachers" they continue. Senior professors with over 20 years of experience form majority of the faculty at University College of Technology (UCT), Osmania University (OU). Barring a few inexperienced teachers, most others are able to communicate in fluent English and are approachable and friendly.

Spread over 1600 acres, the humongous Osmania University (OU) campus hosts one of the finest educational institutes of not just Hyderabad but the entire country. There are about a dozen other colleges, numerous hostel blocks, staff quarters and a lush green landscape garden apart from the University College of Technology (UCT). The college premises have a dedicated parking area and a sports field besides the main college building. The interiors of the University College of Technology, Osmania University (UCT OU) remind you of ancient Indian architecture - large passageways, high ceilings in classrooms, pure wood doors. Labs need better maintenance and more modern equipment, classrooms would be a better place for learning if fans are serviced and benches are made more comfortable. However, the newly constructed library block leaves no scope for complaints - sufficient books, ample space and a knowledge cafe for uninterrupted Internet access.

Companies like ITC, Oriental Cement, Britannia, some textile mills and a few other food and garment organizations recruit students from University College of Technology (UCT). Series of RTC bus numbers 3, 6, 136... drop you right outside the campus apart from five dozen other buses that you can take if you don't mind a 8-10 minute walk. A good number of students travel by their own two-wheelers, while some other filthy rich ones have their drivers drop them in luxurious cars. Basically, the college is very accessible and you'll find the most suitable way to reach here in a week or two.

Boys claim that their hostel rooms are not presentable although they are sufficiently big to conveniently accommodate 2 or even 3 roommates.The recently inaugurated girls hostel has definitely created some sparks. "It's splendid" says a bunch of girls, who are overjoyed.

The premises of University College of Technology (UCT) lack canteen facilities but students aren't inconvenienced as there are about 5 or 6 cafeterias in the Osmania University campus and all are equally maintained. The most popular amongst students at UCT is the IPE canteen as it's the closest.

Himayat Nagar is a 15-minute drive and students don't hesitate to jump on their bikes and vroom! Dadu's, KFC, Chutneys, Pizza Corner, Domino's, McDonald's, Subway, Cafe Coffee Day - you name it and it's there. Or if the mood is to just stroll by Hussain Sagar, Tank Bund road isn't too far either. Or if it's been a tiring day, you can just find a cool place in the campus itself.

Although maximum seats are reserved for Andhra Pradesh students (60% for Telangana region, 30% for rest of the state), few seats are termed "Unreserved" and are filled in by students from all over the country or even outside the country. Seniors seldom act dominating and although there are no accounts of ragging, first years are expected to follow certain rules set by them. "Initially, they may hate us. But gradually it leads to more interaction and better bonding" says a final year student.
Harsha Bhogle is a notable alumnus college.

According to prescribed rules, students at University College of Technology (UCT), Osmania University (OU) are expected to maintain above 75% attendance or up to 65% attendance in case of medical reasons. No one dares to fall below the minimum mark unless he/she is absolutely certain of convincing the principal to rule in his/her favour. However, apart from the attendance criteria, the college hasn't introduced any unnecessary rules such as dress codes or a closed gate system. College timings are 9:00am to 4:40pm (on full days, i.e., labs + theory classes).
