ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) was founded by the same management which runs ACE Engineering Academy, a popular GATE coaching centre in Abids, Hyderabad. A lot of experienced teachers from this institute teach at the college and students are completely satisfied with the teaching. Civil Department is said to have the best faculty amongst all departments at ACE Engineering College (ACEEC), Hyderabad.

The campus of ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) is extensive and splendid – the grand entrance is followed by lush green lawns on one side and football fields and volleyball & basketball courts on the other. “Academic facilities provided are perfect” says a student. “Labs have all the necessary equipments, library has sufficient books and classrooms are great too” he continues. The only factor where the college needs improvement as far as infrastructure is concerned is internet – there’s no Wi-Fi and LAN systems do not function reliably.

ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) has managed to do well with getting many of its students placed. Nearly half the batch gets jobs, albeit mainly in IT & Software companies. Some lucky ones are picked up by HCL Technologies and Infosys, but most others have to settle with local mid-level firms. Average salary is a mediocre Rs. 2 lakh/annum. But sadly for Mechanical, Civil and EEE departments, there’s only a couple of jobs in their field, while others have to switch to IT jobs or opt for higher studies.

ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) is located in Ghatkesar, a distant suburb in North-Eastern Hyderabad. It’s a 15-20 kilometre drive from Uppal, the nearest urban locality. Though RTC buses like 245A, 245J, 488, 490-494 and series of 280 buses ferry you up to the Ghatkesar Main Road, the college is a further 5 kilometres from there. More than three-fourths of the students prefer the college bus service which charges anything between Rs. 12,000-13,000 per year. Others use RTC buses and reach the college by taking share-autos from the main road.

Unfortunately for the meat-eaters, the canteen provides only vegetarian food varieties. Vegeterians, too, aren't lucky either; the food served is of inferior quality in terms of hygiene as well as taste. Seating arrangements are uncomfortable and the ambience is dull. “We don’t prefer eating or sitting in the canteen” says a group of students.

There’s a little hutment bang opposite the gate of ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) which the students fondly call ‘box-office’. It provides 2-3 half-broken benches to chill and relax apart from a few snack varieties and cigarettes. However, if this doesn’t sound exciting, it’s best to stay in college and head straight home in the evening.

The crowd here is a mix of mischievous chaps and sincere ones. Many come from different parts of the state, other than Hyderabad but there aren’t too many from North India. Loads of them are enthusiastic about sports and extracurricular activities but equally dedicated when it comes to academics, be it engineering examinations or preparation for competitive exams like GATE.

Technical festivals organized by different departments are held every year and students from a few neighbouring colleges are invited to participate. ‘FACE IT’ is an annual event when students scoring over 80% in exams are given prizes.

ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) is relatively more relaxed with attendance compared to other Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad. Although 75% is recommended, there aren’t too many problems caused as long as students have over 55-60% attendance. However, if it falls below 50%, chances of getting detained arise. As far as disciplinary rules are concerned, for a change, there’s no dress code to be followed, students can enter and leave College at all times and there’s relatively more freedom. College timings are 9am to 4pm.

Although ACE Engineering College (ACEEC) may not be a front runner amongst top engineering colleges in Hyderabad, it’s definitely one of the best in the Ghatkesar region. Students seem to be content with academics and campus life here with the only complaints being a substandard canteen and lack of encouragement for sports and other cultural activities.
