Brilliant. All faculties are experienced and have a mastery of the subjects they teach. Being an autonomous institute, the curriculum and course structure is very different from other engineering colleges. Here they focus more on practical and workshops. Even for theory topics there are no fixed textbooks, but you need to study each topic separately from various references. Teachers are very resourceful and well read. They suggest nice books and sources on internet to read from. There are many visiting faculties from industry too. The syllabus is such that you don’t have to study redundant topics which students of other universities might have to study.

CEPT university campus is nestled inside Ahmedabad Education Society’s (AES) campus as some of the founders of both the institutions were common. Famous Husain-Doshi Caves (fondly called ‘amdavad ni gufa’), which have a great academic significance for students, is located in the same campus. College architecture is inspired from illustrious architect & founder B. V. Doshi. College buildings are typical red-brick structures surrounded by lush sloping lawns. All the required facilities like classrooms, labs, studios and workshops are well up to the mark. They have planned studios in “north light style” which means light setting is ideal. Classrooms and studios are spacious and have comfortable single seats. The entire campus is WiFi enabled but speed is fast only in certain areas. There’s a small football field, a volleyball ground and a couple of table tennis setup in basement for recreational purposes. There’s also an amphitheatre which is used frequently by students.

Zen Café & Amul Café are the two most frequented places if students go out of the campus. While inside the campus there are many hideouts like ‘jungle’ besides the canteen which is a smokers’ paradise. Lawns are also favourite spots for many.

Most of the students are from Gujarat only, due to home-state quota. There are about 25%-30% girls in each batch, which is very good for Civil engineering when compared to other colleges. Students here are intelligent but not snobbish. Everyone’s really friendly and open-minded. There’s also very good interaction between students of different schools. You can see the campus bustling with activities 24x7. Especially students from non-engineering faculties can be seen studying or finishing assignments or brainstorming in all places possible on the campus. Some students can also be seen playing or rehearsing for competitions in amphitheatre. Thus the campus atmosphere is happening making your college years enjoyable.

85% is the minimum attendance needed in order to be allowed to appear for exams. With genuine medical reasons it can be reduced to 75%, below which is not allowed in any case. College is not very strict in implementing these rules but students driven by interest attend lectures anyways. Also the fact that 60% of the marks are from internal exams, further compels students to attend lectures. There aren’t any other silly disciplinary rules in place. You are just expected to submit your assignments on schedule.
