All the faculties teaching at Prince Venkateshwara are very well qualified and good at teaching too. Students of this college are more or less satisfied with the standard of education in their college. Many students consider ECE as the best department while CSE which is also considered very good department is equally strict too. Thanks to the hard work put in by teachers and students, passing ratio is high and college is among top 10 colleges in Anna University based on result analysis.

The academic and educational facilities at Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engineering College are perfect; no complaints regarding this. For recreational purposes there are playgrounds available but students are not allowed to use them during college hours; hence day-scholars can’t make use of them. Only hostelites play there and that too only during specified timings. Wi-Fi is not there but if needed, internet can be used from desktop computers. There are college hostels for first & second year students; third and final year students have to manage their accommodation themselves. Off-campus living options include PGs and flats which are available aplenty in nearby areas.

All your usual mass recruiting IT firms like TCS, Capgemini, Wipro and HCL come to Prince Venkateshwara for placements. Although not many students are selected in campus interviews but overall placement scenario here is much better than average Chennai standards.

Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engineering College (PSVPEC) is located in a sub-urban area called Ponmar on the southern outskirts of Chennai. Connectivity by MTC buses is okay; there are only a few a bus routes plying to Ponmar and frequency is bad. Thus most of the students prefer travelling by college buses which take you to almost all parts of the city; charges for the same are about Rs 20,000 a year.

College hostel rooms are smallish and not comfortable. The rooms are available on twin or triple sharing basis and will cost only about Rs 18,000 per year excluding mess charges, but students do not find facilities worth even that much.

Canteen is small and not good. There’s not much variety offered on the menu; only snacks and tiffin items are available. Hostle mess is separate but that too is not really good.

60% of the students are localites coming from nearby areas like Tambaram, south Chennai and others. Hostelites are from all over Tamilnadu. Believe it or not girls are more than boys in this engineering college. 60-40 is the girl-boy ratio and some girls are very good looking too. But sadly no interaction is allowed between boys and girls. Overall people here are friendly and fun-loving.

Top Attendance Reviews ALL Attendance REVIEWS

Prince Venkateshwara is among the strictest colleges in Chennai for attendance and disciplinary issues. Leave of only about a week for exam preparations is permitted in whole of the semester. According to university norm one needs to have 75% attendance but college-expected attendance comes to 90% -95%. And relaxation is given only for genuine medical illness. Even if you bunk even a single day, your parents will be notified and might also be called to the college. Dress-code involves formal clothes to be worn daily and uniform once a week for practical sessions. However you can manage wearing casual/double pocket shirts without much issues but t-shirts or jeans are strictly forbidden. Roaming about in campus during college hours and leaving the campus before college closing time are tasks next to impossible. Also girls and boys should not be seen together in campus, nor should they communicate for non-formal reasons.

Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engineering College has two major plus points – flawless academic infrastructure and great faculties. But it takes hitting on many other fronts such as location, non-academic parts of infrastructure and unnecessarily strict rules. Students rate their college as 6 on 10 breaking it up as 5 points for infra and studies plus 1 point for all other things combined. Overall it’s a good college for those who want to sincerely study but surely not a place for those who want to enjoy their college life.
