The faculty here is neither very good not really bad. Some teachers are highly qualified, many are PhD holders. Others are either graduates or post-graduates.
Mechanical branch is said to have the better faculty compared to other branches here. Some students have complaints against the teachers who do hold grudges against the students. Most of them are very strict and you don’t see a friendly rapport among the students and the teachers.

Although the college is located in the middle of city but it hasn't compromised on the size of its campus. It has a campus bigger than some colleges located in the outskirts. The Loyola campus houses many other colleges and courses; engineering is a relatively newer college. The campus is huge with all the sports facility available. The grounds are open for the students to play but only after the college hours. The building is big and classrooms spacious. The library isn’t one of the best but it has decent number of books; students don’t face shortage. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled but only for the staff and not for the students. Students can use the internet in the library.

Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering & Technology (LICET) is one of the very few engineering colleges which have a campus in the city. It is located in the posh area of Nungambakkam. The college is very well connected by trains and buses. Nungambakkam station is nearby, at walking distance. There are buses plying here from all the parts of the city. Many share autos also ply through this area.

Girls’ hostel is in the campus but the boys don’t get this privilege. Boys can stay in some of the private hostels or flats who have a tie up with the college. There are 4 people in a flat.
Students have to cough up Rs 43,000 per annum for the hostels. Mess food here is better than the other messes. Loyola is one of the very few colleges where students are happy with the mess food.

Canteen is decent which is run by a restaurant which does have canteen in some other colleges too. The main problem is that the canteen is very expensive and not worth it. Students usually don’t prefer having food there. There is variety but then definitely not worth the price.

The crowd here is better compared to other colleges in the sense that they do complain of not having good looking girls around. Some of the students are fun loving and do complain of the system. Many of them travel by their own vehicles and some are spotted playing music in their cars post college hours. There is a minority quota for Catholic students and you do find many of them.

The college does have intra and intercollege festivals but then the crowd’s response isn’t good. The festival isn’t good but then compared to many other colleges it is decent enough.

As per the Anna University norms, 75% attendance is compulsory and Loyola complies with it. If students are late even by half an hour, it goes down as a half day.
Being a Jesuit institution, Loyola is very strict when it comes to discipline.
Formals are compulsory, mobile phones are not allowed and students are expected to hang their id cards as long as they are in the college premises.
Parents are called very often in case of any anti-disciplinary action.

Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering & Technology is in nascency and although currently it is not a very good college but then students claim that 10 years down the line it shall be among top brass of Chennai engineering colleges.
