Being the most preferred engineering college in Ibrahimpatnam, Stupidsid's team thought CVRCE would outshine the others on this front. However, they were astonished to know that many students are disappointed with the teaching. "Things have changed now and junior lecturers with less than 3 years of teaching experience have taken charge. Few senior professors are left in each department and they teach only in the final year" remarks a student. Communicating in fluent English is also an issue for some teachers at CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE)

The campus environment and the academic blocks both appeared great to Stupidsid's team at first glance. However, some students complained that everything isn't as nice as it looks and a makeover is needed. Apparatus in labs are tolerable but not up to the expectations of the students. "Classrooms are also small. And the auditorium doesn't look anything close to a REAL auditorium" says a student. Sports amenities aren't well maintained as the institute doesn't encourage sports a lot. Moreover, there's no parking for students' vehicles inside the campus. So even though most of the academic parts are in place, little problems keep cropping up here and there.

CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE) has been recording tremendous placements since the past few years, probably explains why students are still clinging on to it. Infosys, TCS, Mphasis, Syntel are the major recruiters accounting for more than half of the 300+ job offers. While most of the companies are from the IT sector, Mechanical and Civil Engineering graduates do have an opportunity to work in their core fields as Robert Bosch and L&T hire a few students too. Highest salary offered varies between Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs. 9.0 lakh per year offered to about half a dozen lucky chaps; average salary is Rs. 3.0 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum.

While it's already a nightmare to travel up to Ibrahimpatnam, CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE) is another 3 kms off Nagarjuna Sagar Road from Mangalpally 'X' Roads. About 8 in 10 students prefer sticking to the College Buses (Rs. 13,000/year) as the RTC bus service isn't reliable. Or some take share autos to the 'X' roads where buses are more frequent.

Yet another let down! It's small, very crowded, untidy and allegedly serves unhygienic food. Moreover, there are too few varieties on the menu.

The reputation still attracts numerous students with high ranks, most of who are already inclined towards academics only. The remaining enthusiastic lot, too, gets hammered down because of the various restrictions imposed by the college and its 'Academics Only' strategy.

CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE) is moderately strict about attendance and expects everyone to have at least 65% attendance. In extreme cases, a further 10-15% relaxation may be granted, but not without answering hundreds of questions to the head of department. College timing is 9:15 am to 3:40 pm and gates remain closed between 10 am and 3 pm so you can't enter or leave the campus during this time unless absolutely necessary and after you've sought the required permissions.

Autonomy, superb placements and the glorious reputation make CVR College of Engineering (CVRCE) the best engineering college in Ibrahimpatnam region, despite the many negative aspects. However, it can't stay there for long if infrastructure and faculty don't make it to what the students expect.
