Even within the financial capital of India, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) is located in the financial hub of the city, Churchgate. The infrastructure is decent with air-conditioned class rooms, but JBIMS doesn’t have any campus.
Fees & Placements:
The placements at Jamnalal Bajaj (JBIMS) are right up there with the best colleges in India. In 2011, the average salary was Rs.12.5 lakhs, and the highest package was a whooping Rs.26 lakh. 68 companies participated in their placement process and offered various profiles in the fields of Finance, Marketing, Consultancy, etc.
Major recruiters at JBIMS are UB Group, Novartis, McKinsey, P&G, ITC, Crisil.
Entrance Examinations and Courses Offered:
Admissions to JBIMS were done through CET, but now they would be through CMAT.
Jamnalal Bajaj offers a degree course called MMS under the Mumbai University. It also offers an executive MBA for working professionals.
Faculty & Pedagogy:
Because of its ideal location, JBIMS is able to attract a number of senior managers from the industry as guest lecturers. The permanent faculty, too, is widely considered the best in Mumbai.
The excellent faculty ensures that learning is an absolute pleasure at JBIMS. The college benefits from the fact that many illustrious alumni are visiting faculties here.
Crowd & Campus Life:
The cutoffs being so high for JBIMS, you would find the cream of the CET crowd here. There is a majority of engineers but the batch generally has a lot of other diverse backgrounds. The one disadvantage is that JBIMS doesn’t have a residential program like IIMs so students lose out on some parts of campus life.
JBIMS has excellent summer placements. In 2010, 78 companies visited the campus and offered brilliant offers to all 120 students within the first four days. Average stipend was Rs.72,000 and the highest domestic stipend was Rs.1.5 lakh.
Major hirers were Citibank, HSBC, JPMC, HUL, P&G, ITC, etc.
It is the third oldest B School in the country, and still one of the best. It gives excellent Return on Investment. Another noteworthy point is the fact that the course is not residential, which may be an attraction for some students.
