Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune (PUMBA), Ganeshkhind

It is situated in the Pune University campus. Pune university is well connected by the buses but PUMBA is approximately a K.M. away from where the buses drop you. Students generally travel by bikes.

Infrastructure can be said good considering it is a government institute. Classrooms don’t have ACs but the weather is good and environment is quite comfortable so the need for ACs is not there. Campus is wi-fi enabled, it has basic amenities. Library is also good , students find all the books necessary. The campus is huge, you ay study here for 2 years and then also may you not boast of not being able to have seen the entire campus. To move around the campus you may need some sort of a vehicle, don’t expect rickshaws to be at your disposal.

Courses offered:

MBA Core (MBA-marketing management, telecom management, HR management), MBA Bio-tech

Fees and placements:

The fee for the course is Rs.65,000 per year.
90% of the students get placed. MBA general students get a package of approx. 5-6 lakhs, where as students pursuing MBA in Bio-tech get relatively less, around 4 lakhs.

The faculty is not bad, you can rate them above average. The faculty is highly qualified. You shouldn’t be surprised if you find teachers communicating in Marathi sometimes. It is commonplace.

Seminars and industry interaction:

Most of the seminars conducted are by the alumni of the college itself. Most of the seminars are held over the weekend and students to blame it for spoiling their weekend. Summer placements are very good, mostly all students find an internship.

Crowd and campus life:

Majority of the students are from the cities of Pune and Nashik. The general MBA has a good diversity, it has students from various background, namely commerce, engineering and other science specializations. The crowd here is one of the better ones you will find in Pune. Don’t expect Symbiosis kind of crowd here but then too it is much better than the other PU college crowd.

'Dhruv' is the festival happening in the month of January.

Yes attendance is compulsory in PUMBA. This is not a stupid engineering college like VIT Pune.
