Department of Aeronautical Engineering, the original department which laid the foundations of Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IAE), has exceptional faculty. Senior professors include retired officers from IAF and ISRO. Teachers for the other departments may not be as good, but they're certainly better than other engineering colleges.

The campus isn't very big but the space is nicely utilized. At one end of the main quadrangle lies a dummy aircraft constantly reminding that you're at one of the finest aeronautical institutes in the country. Labs and classrooms are absolutely fantastic and there's rarely an issue of insufficient or faulty equipments. One problem that inconveniences students is intermittent Internet access and no Wi-Fi.

It's unfortunate that even the brilliant aeronautical engineers that IAE produces have to either settle with IT jobs on campus or hunt for jobs on their own. About 50 students each from Aero, CSE and ECE departments take up employment at companies like Infosys, MindTree and Mahindra Satyam. Most of the remaining pursue higher studies. Salary packages offered range between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh per annum with an average of Rs. 2.5 lakh. Overall, the college manages to place about half the batch.

Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IAE) is located off the Outer Ring Road, about 3 kms from Gandimaisamma 'X' Roads in Dundigal, a remote semi-urban area on the outskirts of north Hyderabad. 8 in 10 students prefer using the college bus services as RTC buses are less frequent.

Another plus point. It's bright, roomy and well ventilated. A quick snack in the IAE canteen is always preferable while just pondering over random thoughts. Biryani and fresh juices are popular.

Farmlands stretch over miles around the MLRITM campus. So unless you're looking for a little DDLJ photoshoot, stay in college.

Being one of the premier aeronautical engineering institutes, the crowd at Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IAE) is refreshingly above average, or at least in the aero department. Loads of them come from outside Andhra Pradesh resulting in an absolutely mixed and charged up crowd. A number of them are also from conservative backgrounds but everyone gets along well.

Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IAE) is very strict about attendance and it's best to adhere to its rules and stay out of trouble. 75% is the least amount of lectures every student needs to attend and most do it willingly as the professors have inculcated a hunger for learning. Some others have to because numerous cameras and security personnel ensure no one lingers around in the campus during the college timing.

If aeronautical engineering is your dream course and Hyderabad is where you want to study it from, there's no better choice than Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IAE). And the other courses, well it's one of the few engineering colleges anyone can recommend for high quality education.
