The overall faculty at GRIET is just about average, but are regular when it comes to taking lectures. But particularly with every branch there is variation among the faculties and their teaching. Students say even the senior professors, at times are not the best at explaining concepts. But not forgetting the fact, that they are devoted, and sincere with regards to their work. The communication with students is in English, and the interaction at various levels is pretty good.

The campus is on a small hill, but landscaped well, and planned out quite efficiently, and a lot of land is also under green cover which makes it look pleasant. The college is divided into 4 separate blocks for the various engineering departments. But a downside is that the college sacrificed its ground for the construction of the school, so as a result the college and the school have no sports facilities now. The college even has an open-air-theatre which is nice, and maintained. Although the classes are not air-conditioned, they’re well ventilated, and comfortable. The laboratory equipments are new and maintained as well. Seminar Halls and the auditorium are pretty good though. The library is a duplex kind of a setup, with ample of books available. The students find the number of copies of every book also to be sufficient. All books of various departments at the college for undergrad and postgrad level are easily available. The college lacks Wi-Fi coverage in the campus, but internet is available at the library, and students are free to use it. The parking facilities, the students say fall short.

Overall placement from this college is about 30-40% of all the departments combined. But since only software companies visit the campus, they prefer graduates from CSE/IT/ECE and these branches have about 80% placements. Major and regular recruiters are TCS, Wipro & Infosys. A pleasantly surprising thing is that for the Mech and ECE branches, there are core companies also coming in, like Hyundai, GVK, and Intergraph. Average salary offered comes to about Rs.3.5 Lakh per annum, with companies having offered Rs.5-6 Lakh at max.

Located off the Nizampet Road, the campus is located about 800 meters off the main road. The nearest landmark to the college is possibly JNTU, Kukatpally, about 4kms, from where even the college provides buses to get to the college. Those taking MMTS, Hi-Tech city is the closest at 7Kms. Most people travel to the college by their own vehicles. Although the college provides college buses, many prefer taking them only till JNTU which costs them about Rs.5,000 for a year and RTC buses from JNTU are frequent; 218, 219, 223, 224, 225, 226 series buses can get you here, from all parts of the city. Also the college provides buses up to L.B.Nagar but the charges are obviously more. RTC Bus no.287 drops you right outside the college. Many even hitch a hike on a friend’s bike/car till JNTU, so basically it’s a little far from the city, getting here every day could become a boring routine.

The canteen is at normal times sufficient for students, because not everyone is out in the canteen at the same time. But the space certainly falls short at the time of the exams, and it does get crowded. The canteen is shared by other course students too. There is variety in the food that’s available at the canteen, apart from the normal tea, coffee, and packed stuff. Food is priced reasonably, but tastes absolutely normal like any other college canteen. Not really worth appreciating or remembering. The most popular offering at the canteen is Chicken Biryani, which is good.

“Closed gate” system; a rule followed at many colleges, which involves shutting the college gates, 10 minutes after the first lecture begins, and opens directly in the evening when the day ends. No getting out of the campus, lest you have a valid reason, and permission for the same, so it’s almost impossible to bunk and hangout. Not that there is any place interesting around either. Closest is JNTU area, where there are places to chill.

The crowd is good, and makes you feel more like being in a city, as compared to other colleges. But as a custom, girls and guys do not sit together in the class or the canteen. The senior and junior interaction is poor, so that juniors are not ragged / bullied. Students are even irritated by the fact that mobiles phones are not allowed on the entire campus. T-shirts are not allowed to college, and formals for the labs are compulsory. Basically funky and jazzy clothes are what college doesn’t want students to wear. The campus has a “closed gate” system followed (more on it ahead).

The inter college cultural festival of Gokaraju Rangaraju Inst. Of Tech is called “Pulse”. Technical festivals on the other hand are conducted department-wise; Mechanical Dept. festival is called “Pragnya”. Bio-Tech dept fest is called “Rodeo”. Other colleges are also invited for the festival and students enjoy during the fests. Pharmacy branch conducts an Environmental Festival; whereas “Spices” is a cooking competition, also the college hosts a short film festival also for the students.

The college has becomes stricter this year on, and as per the university rule, they expect you to maintain at least 75% attendance, every month. Warnings are issued every month so that if you’re low, you have a buffer to save you. If you fail to keep the attendance above 75% you would not be allowed for the exams. There is no system of collecting fines, or compensating by writing extra assignments.

Apart from the strictness, and disciplinary rules, the college is among the top colleges in the area. It can certainly be considered as an option as the placement prospects are also not bad. Even the faculty pushes those who are really interested in studies.

I agree with above comments. Useless faculty, no experience at all, so lazy they are. No proper guidance in the college. Only Money Money Money. They won't provide basic necessities to students e.g info in admin block, water in rest rooms, exams info etc. Moreover faculty demands more from students as if they taught complete subject
