Senior professors teach brilliantly; but while a couple of difficult subjects are taught by the senior staff, most of the other subjects are often taught by the junior faculty members. "In spite of their dedicated efforts, some lecturers aren't able to teach as well as the senior professors" reveals a disappointed MGITian.

The campus is pretty big and appears pleasing. The interiors are fairly good too; however, students say that it could have been maintained better. Space crunch in the library is an occasional issue while the labs need better ventilation. Overall it's tolerable but certainly leaves great scope for improvements.

TCS is generally the single major recruiter offering jobs to over 150 students every year. Other companies like Franklin Templeton, HCL, Deloitte, CSC, HSBC, Capgemini and many more keep visiting alternately and pick up a handful. On the whole Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) manages to place a little over 40% of the students with salaries ranging between Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh per annum.

Very less placements when compared to lesser known colleges. Only around 100 students are getting placed out of total strength of 540 since last two years. Other colleges like CBIT, VASAVI, MVSR, MallaReddy have more placements.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) is located adjacent to CBIT, its sister institute, in extreme West Hyderabad's semi-urban locality - Gandipet - which is about half an hour's drive from Langar Houz or even more if you're coming from Koti. MGIT's remote location is a little discouraging as only a few RTC buses (series of 220) serve the area and it's common to take a share auto up to Narsingi to find slightly better services. First year students usually prefer travelling by College Buses which cost more (Rs. 10,000+ per year) but provide efficient services and once they've settled in, they figure the most suitable way to reach the college.

Hostel facilities are available only for boys at Rs. 40,000 per year with 6 people sharing the room in the first year and 4 in the subsequent years. The hostel blocks are shared with CBIT. There's no girls hostel on the campus; so they've to find a comfortable place somewhere (Langar Houz is the most preferred as it's a livelier area offering several options to choose and the college provides bus facilities around here).

The MGIT canteen is like an enlarged classroom fitted with suitable seating arrangements and a serving counter. Students aren't too fond of the canteen food which they say doesn't taste better than a road-side 'dhaba'. And moreover, there are few varieties to choose. It's charges are quite affordable though.

The surrounding area has nothing interesting to offer except may be Treasure Island Resort right opposite. Adventurers can explore new routes to reach the Osman Sagar Lake not far from here. Others usually prefer visiting Golconda Fort, Langar Houz (Pratap theatre) and Inorbit Mall near Madhapur.

More than half the students at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) happen to be residents of Hyderabad. About a quarter of them come from nearby districts, while the remaining are from North Indian states. The crowd is a lifeless bunch of frustrated engineers just hoping that their course ends soon.

'Nirvana' is the biggest festival celebrated at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) sometime in March. Students from colleges all over Hyderabad are enthusiastically invited but low turnout disheartens the organizing team. Apart from 'Nirvana', there are various technical events organized by the different departments and clubs. Plus there are a dozen other more interesting events at CBIT every year.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) is very particular about attendance and nothing below 60% is tolerated. Moreover, you're permitted to fall below the 75% limit only if you have certain medical reasons.
A closed gate has been implemented and students need to obtain necessary permissions if they have to leave the campus during the day. College timing is 9:40am to 4:10pm.
