About Us |
|
stupidsid.com was born out of a very casual and innocent discussion (which later turned into a very sincere and heated argument) between a small group of third year engineering students of DJ Sanghvi. The discussion was broadly about the education system in India - about how parents tell their kids from the Eighth Grade onwards, until their Post-Graduation, that ‘This is the year that will decide where you are 20 years from now’. Eventually it came to a point when we questioned, ‘We’re going to end up saying exactly the same things to our kids in a few years! OR is there something we can do?’
Ofcourse, while massive reforms in education cannot be undertaken by a tiny little group of students, the least we thought we could do for fellow students was to help them Decide. Decide whether to take up science, commerce or arts. Decide whether to take up engineering or medicine. Law or mass media. An MBA or an MS. This college or that college. In India or overseas. Altruistic, isn’t it? Alright, we were all pretty disillusioned with engineering (rather, education in general) and we thought we’d at least make ourselves useful to SOMEONE.
We decided to come up with a website that offers more than just formal praise or silly statistics about courses, colleges and universities. So we’ve done away with the boring, ‘intelligent’, ‘official’ nonsense. Enter a whole new way of seeing things- the way students today think- what we like to call the layman’s language. It’s in no way stupid, like the name might suggest, but it’s simple, honest, and most importantly, casual.
The efficient, hardworking and resourceful team at stupidsid.com has taken great pains to personally get a feel of each college, each course, even each location mentioned in this website, just to provide the reader with a first-hand account of what life might be like if he or she lands up there. All this in an informal, frank language, which would definitely appeal to students. We know this because we would’ve loved it too. There is always a desire in a student to know more, to imbibe more and more information before he dives into the pool of opportunities. And we give them all they need to know- in a smart and catchy, but simple and casual way- a ‘stupid’ way. Because there’s a stupidsid in all of us…
