A majority of the faculties are juniors and are themselves B.E. pass-outs with no or little experience in teaching. In fact there was a time when there was an acute shortage of teaching staff for the civil department, which meant a small vacation for the students. Now it’s better. Overall the faculties taking Math are considered the best. Senior faculties of Mechanical Department are very knowledgeable, worth paying attention to. But on a whole, for the sake of exams, the students have to manage by themselves only. The junior professors’ students say are full of ego and attitude, and a common threat all use is, in the words of a student “submission mein dekhte hai”. The nerds and those with ‘connections’ sail through without much issue though.

The campus is huge, and is separated into different blocks for Pharmacy, Management and Engineering departments. The campus is planned well with attention even paid to include a green cover, and it does make it look more pleasant. Classrooms are not bad, they are spacious and well ventilated too, but students tend to show their notorious side with the fans and lights of the classes. Labs are good, but at times face a shortage of well trained teachers to take the labs. DBMS labs students right outstanding, but again maintenance is an issue. Students feel the general policy of the institute has become to fine money over every trivial thing possible. The auditoriums ad some of the labs have been developed well, but need maintenance which currently is not seen. Classes and washrooms tend to be left un-attended for days, and hence unclean. The trust running the college has enough funds, but students are unhappy with the ways things are maintained. The library is a nice place, and so is the reading room; big, spacious and quiet. Books are managed properly, and students make good use of the facility. Sports facilities are good, and the college provides for everything in cricket and football. This sadly is made use of only around the sports week of the college, the rest of the year its not very encouraged. So all in all its made available for name sake.

The college is just about 4 years old, so only one batch is out yet. And the students say that the placement for that wasn’t impressive. But this year around, it has tied up with monster.com for a program where students can enroll for their service at a much cheaper cost (Rs.1,500 – 2,000). But students are still not positive about companies coming and recruiting from campus. All they have from college is the monster.com where visibility of their paid listing would be enhanced.

Located off the Kalol National Highway, with a ST Bus stop to its name, locating the institute is no issue. About a kilometer or so from the highway, you can easily walk it out if you have company. Most people use the college buses that ferry from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and charge Rs7,500 per year. Pretty decent considering the convenience it offers to get to the college. About 15% students use their own vehicles to get here, while about 25% make use of public transport which drops them at the highway. Not located too far from the city, location is not an issue considering that it has a huge campus that would not be possible in the heart of the city.

Hostel / Campus Life:The institute provides for on-campus hostel just for boys. Although its half constructed now, would be complete soon. The rest rent flats around which would cost them about Rs.3,000 a month, and food extra. The hostels are good and staying here is worth it.

The canteen of KITRC is medium sized. But due to many students having their lunchbreaks at the same time, it gets stuffed. Many students can be seen happily munching their food sitting on lawns due to lack of space in canteen. The food and service in canteen are good; no issues if you forget to carry your tiffin some days.

Canteen is probably the most probable hang out students would choose to be at. Garden and the lawns and the campus is yet another option. But really there isn’t much around the college where you can hangout. With the lecture bell sounding like an ‘emergency evacuation’ alarm, most students hit the classes when have nothing better to do.

A very small number of nerds around really prick the rest, but thankfully the number is small. Being nerdy as the students say is not bad, but not being united is. The crowd is overall decent and you can manage to make friends you could have a good time with. The girls are mixing too, and there’s healthy interaction between people. While working for events and activities, people work as groups and interaction is bound to happen. People are mostly from Ahmedabad and Mehsana, and of course Kalol too. The ratio of boy to girl on an average is about 70:30 and IT/Comps have a slightly better ratio. You would meet students from diverse backgrounds. Most gel well together, as you find your type of company easily. The area is safe for girls, no issue there.

In the even semester, every year a Sports Week is celebrated and everyone participates with full enthusiasm. The trustee for the sports week takes personal interest and makes sure the event is good. The trustee is young and dynamic and takes keen interest in activities that are beyond academics. The last day of the sports fest is a Cultural Program and people enjoy it a lot!

Top Attendance Reviews ALL Attendance REVIEWS

The college has setup a computerized software system for managing attendance of the students. The teachers feed in the attendance by the end of the day, and the software sends out S.M.S. to parents about their wards day at college. The college insists that students need to maintain 70% attendance, but people say you can escape till you have an attendance of 50%. Below that you just call for more annoyance from the teachers, and undue delay in the submissions of your term work. College is not known to have taken any harsh action in the past. The college would even be answerable to GTU and would have to justify the reason for year drops, is what students think keeps them from taking harsh actions. Also once in the college premise you cannot leave the college till 4:30 pm till the college ends officially. In case you have to go out, you would need gate pass, mentioning the reason for leaving.

If here, you should be ready to manage your studies yourself. Job prospects on campus also look shaken.
